Also known as a bike train, it’s a group of people biking together towards a shared destination. Ride leaders follow planned route schedules and families are encouraged to join the group as it passes nearest their home, just like a bus (or train). It’s a great way to bicycle safely in a group and practice good cycling habits.
Any #BPAfamily members; including adults and students. Children should be comfortable riding independently with supervision. Cargo bikes, tag-alongs, and trailers welcome!
K-2nd grade: Must be accompanied by an adult.
3rd-5th grade: May participate without a guardian if route leader approves.
Registration is not required but families are encouraged to join our WhatsApp Community to stay informed throughout the year, or volunteer to help.

Routes and meeting times are best explored through our interactive map. Routes are determined based on multiple factors but also participation so please suggest changes that might improve your access.
Complete the participant form to indicate your preferred route or to suggest a new route.
All routes end at BPA in the small grassy area behind the school sign (Clifton x Glenwood). Please do not ride in the school crosswalk, block the sidewalk, or gather in the roadway upon arrival. Adults are encouraged to leave their bikes in the grass to help kids transport bikes down the stairs to the racks next to the school.
The stairs from Clifton St feature a wheel ramp to help transport bikes to and from the racks near the school entrance. The video below includes tips for usage:
The BPA bike bus is community organized and participating families are responsible for their own safety.
All participants, regardless of age, must wear a helmet.
Bike reflectors or lights are encouraged.
Please ensure your family’s bikes are in safe working order, including properly inflated tires and effective brakes. Do an ABC Quick Check beforehand.
Children should be comfortable riding independently with supervision.
Allow enough space between riders for safe stopping.
Take it slow and stick together, bike trains provide safety in numbers and should only move as fast as the slowest rider. It's not a race.
Please do not ride in the school crosswalk. (It’s ok to use the curb cut to exit the roadway, just yield to pedestrians.)
Please do not block the sidewalk or gather in the roadway upon arrival.
Most routes lack dedicated bike infrastructure and so we will be riding legally in the roadway where necessary. That means keeping to the right side, riding no more than 2-wide, and obeying all posted traffic signs.
The routes follow residential streets that ride leaders use frequently and are very safe but still require appropriate care. Please use your best judgment, particularly at intersections with busy streets.
